Ings looking brighter for Burnley
Danny Ings has returned to training but will undergo a late fitness test when Burnley meet Barnsley at Turf Moor.
The absence of the England Under-21 international, who has registered 15 goals in 21 Clarets games this term, was dearly felt in Tuesday night's goalless draw with Watford.
The striker's ankle problem will now be monitored to see if he can feature against the managerless Tykes while Dean Marney will receive a similarly late assessment on his thigh strain.
Centre-back Michael Duff is back from suspension for the team who led the Sky Bet Championship until recently but winger Ross Wallace's knee problem will keep him out until the new year.
Barnsley's Chris O'Grady is hoping to win his fitness race in time and fellow striker Marcus Pedersen could also return.
O'Grady has missed the last three games due to a calf injury and Pedersen sat out the midweek win at Brighton with a slight thigh strain.
Caretaker-boss Micky Mellon could be tempted to rest on-loan forward Marcus Tudgay, who has played two games in quick succession following his arrival from Nottingham Forest.
But Mellon, taking charge of his second game since the sacking of former manager David Flitcroft, will be reluctant to make too many changes from the side that clinched their first away win of the season on Tuesday night.
