Burnley learn cup opponents tonight

It was a night of shocks last night in the Carling Cup as Championship clubs Barnsley, Bristol City, Coventry, Derby, Doncaster, Nottingham Forest and QPR went out against Rochdale, Southend, Morecambe, Crewe, Accrington, Bradford City and Port Vale respectively. There were other big surprises too as Shrewsbury came from 3-0 behind at home to beat Charlton 4-3, whilst Leicester and Ipswich were, in the end, fortunate to go through against Macclesfield and Exeter.Ipswich only went through with an extra time goal from David Norris on what was a terrible night for Exeter. Shortly after the end of the game the news came through that their striker Adam Stansfield had passed away at the age of 31. He'd been suffering from bowel cancer.There are three more games to be played tonight, after which the draw for the second round will be made, the draw being shown live on Sky Sports News.The 35 winners from this round will be joined by Burnley and Hull along with thirteen clubs from the Premier League, those not playing in Europe. The draw is seeded and Burnley are one of the seeded clubs with it based on each club's finishing position within the leagues last season.So far 22 clubs are definitely in the seeded group and 22 clubs in the non-seeded group. The last three places in each group will be determined by which clubs win the three ties tonight. These games are Cardiff v Burton, Hartlepool v Sheffield United and Torquay v Reading.The lists below will show who Burnley can potentially be drawn against tonight.Seeded Group: Everton, Birmingham, Blackburn, Stoke, Fulham, Sunderland, Bolton, Wolves, Wigan, West Ham, Newcastle, West Brom, Blackpool, Burnley, Hull, Portsmouth, Leicester, Swansea, Middlesbrough, Ipswich, Watford, PrestonThe three other seeded clubs will be Cardiff, Reading and Sheffield United should they win through but should any of them lose the seeded places will be taken, in priority, by Scunthorpe, Crystal Palace and Norwich.Unseeded Group: Leeds, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday, Peterborough, Huddersfield, Southampton, Colchester, Brentford, Milton Keynes Franchise,, Leyton Orient, Tranmere, Notts County, Rochdale, Southend, Morecambe, Port Vale, Northampton, Shrewsbury, Bradford City, Accrington, Crewe, OxfordThe three unseeded clubs to be added will be Scunthorpe, Crystal Palace and Norwich, although they will be replaced in this group by Burton, Torquay and Hartlepool should any of them win their games tonight.
