Burnley goalkeeper on bench for Barnsley

Published: 13 Mar 2010 - 21:46:11

There is often confusion within the national media where Burnley and Barnsley are concerned but the reporting of a Burnley goalkeeper on the subs bench for Barnsley this afternoon in their Championship game against Crystal Palace was no mistake. Regular Barnsley keeper Luke Steele was sent off just before half time in their 6-1 defeat at Newcastle last Saturday at a time when the score was still 0-0.Today he was serving a one match ban and that meant usual sub keeper David Preece was in the side for the first time since September. To ensure they had a goalkeeper amongst the name substitutes they took Burnley's young keeper Jonathan Lund on an seven day loan this morning. He wasn't called upon as Preece kept a clean sheet in the game and he'll return to Turf Moor next week.
