Burnley will turn to Brown

26 December 2010 08:16
Brian Laws remains under pressure as Burnley manager with the Clarets now down to twelfth in the table and the latest suggestions are that Phil Brown is the man who could be waiting in the wings should the board opt for a change. That's this morning's tabloid speculation - nicely timed as the Clarets go into the Christmas programme with the trip to Barnsley, followed by a home game against Scunthorpe on Tuesday afternoon.Brown had a nightmare first experience in management at Derby but took Hull to the Premier League and kept them there in the first season before losing his job towards the end of last season as they lost their place and suffered relegation alongside ourselves and Portsmouth. He's long been linked with the Burnley job and was thought to be one who came close in 2004 when Steve Cotterill eventually replaced Stan Ternent.
