Jason still Shackelled by injury Burnley will hand a fitness test to skipper Jason Shackell ahead of the visit of Sheffield Wednesday to Turf Moor. The 29-year-old was initially named in the Clarets' starting line-up at the weekend but aggravated an injury in the warm up and was unable to play a part. Shackell had played through a hamstring strain against former club Derby before being rested in the Capital One Cup defeat against Swindon. The latest setback leaves him as a major doubt with Burnley looking to bounce back from conceding a stoppage-time equaliser against Millwall at the weekend. David Edgar will continue in Shackell's place if the captain is deemed unfit, but manager Eddie Howe has no other new injury problems. Danny Ings has returned to training following an operation to correct a knee cartilage injury but is still a few weeks away from being involved. Sheffield Wednesday winger Jermaine Johnson could be asked to play at right-back again. Johnson was asked to play in a new role in the 1-0 defeat at Wolves as manager Dave Jones tries to shore up a leaky defence, and the Jamaica international may continue at full-back against Burnley. Jones' cause has not been helped by injuries to Reda Johnson (foot), Kieran Lee (ankle) and Mark Beevers (knee). Martin Taylor and Anthony Gardner were paired together in central defence as Wednesday looked a more solid outfit and they are expected to resume their partnership. Defender Reda Johnson is not expected back due to a foot problem that has kept him sidelined for the last three matches, but midfielder Rhys McCabe (thigh) and defender Lewis Buxton (hamstring) could both return to contention. Midfielder Chris Lines (groin) remains sidelined, but defenders Miguel Llera and Daniel Jones, plus striker Gary Madine, are all pushing for recalls.
