Burnley v Manchester City Live

Unfortunately for Burnley, the introduction of old boy Brian Laws has failed to kick-start their season and the Clarets now find themselves stuck in the relegation zone having managed just one point from eight games. While Burnley are desperate to survive for another season, the visitors to Turf Moor this weekend have their eye firmly on that Champions League spot. Manchester City will travel to Burnley hoping to build on their 3-0 win over Wigan, a result which came after an inconsistent run of form which severely dented their European aspirations. Fans at Turf Moor may well enjoy quite a goal-heavy clash at the weekend, with 30 goals scored in the last six meetings between the two sides in all competitions. Indeed, the last four league meetings between the two sides have each produced six goals. However, with 24 of those 30 goals coming for the Citizens, it may well be the travelling supporters who enjoy the goal spree this time around. City boss Roberto Mancini will continue to have his hand forced by a mounting injury list, with influential midfielder Steven Ireland joining Wayne Bridge, Joleon Lescott and Martin Petrov on the treatment table. Burnley are still without defender Steven Caldwell who is yet to play in 2010, as well as young midfielder Chris McCann, who isn't expected to return until next season due to knee ligament damage. Despite the difficult situation at Turf Moor, Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen has called for the home fans to serve as a positive influence on the Clarets' bid to maintain their priceless Premier League status. He said: "If you come in here to try and create trouble and boo, stay at home - there's no point. But everybody else who is standing behind us, we need you all the way to the end of the season." Mancini, on the other hand, is looking to Emanuel Adebayor to help push his side towards Champions League qualification after his return against Wigan following suspension. "I am very happy for him and I hope that Manu, after one month without football, can improve for the next games, " explained the dapper Italian.
