ottingham Forest boss Steve McClaren insists he would not walk out on the club - despite watching his side go down 5-1 at Burnley on Tuesday.[LNB] Jay Rodriguez got Burnley off to the perfect start with goals in the fourth and 14th minute, before Chris McCann stabbed in the third then Ross Wallace curled in to make it 4-0 by half-time.[LNB]Ishmael Miller scored a consolation for Forest after the break before Charlie Austin's header poured further misery on McClaren.[LNB]And while the former England manager conceded the pressure was mounting, he was adamant the players were equally to blame.[LNB]He said: "My assessment? Rubbish. Unacceptable for the fans who travelled.[LNB]"We talked after Saturday's win over Watford, we talked about needing to keep clean sheets to get results.[LNB]"Tonight, every cross that went in we didn't deal with. We looked far too vulnerable.[LNB]"I didn't see it coming but it seems to be the story of the season - one step forward and three steps back. It's hurting us.[LNB]"It's for other people to decide about my job but it's not about me or my job, it's about the team and as normal after a defeat like that, we ask for a reaction.[LNB]"That's unacceptable, it was rubbish but our problems are not just tonight, they're about stopping goals all season.[LNB]"At the end of the day, players cross the white line and they have to be responsible for performance, so yeah we sent them out early at half time.[LNB]"I felt for the fans tonight, travelling all this way."[LNB]Burnley boss Eddie Howe, who himself was under some pressure coming in to the game, said: "It was a really good night for everybody and it's given us a lift.[LNB]"It was a great start for us and we took the game to Nottingham Forest but I still think we can do certain things better but we're certainly moving in the right direction.[LNB]"Our pressing certainly made it hard for Nottingham Forest to play in the first half and the players are beginning to get to know other each other's games.[LNB]"There's been such changes at the club that it was always going to take a bit of time.[LNB]"Some of the players haven't played a lot of football.[LNB]"Jay is a top player and he will only get better. Two goals here and if you add his cup goals to his tally, he's not done too badly with seven goals."[LNB]Commenting on his opposite numbers current predicament, Howe added: "Steve (McClaren) has got a fantastic record, he's managed his country. Given time, he'll do a great job at Nottingham Forest."[LNB]Burnley took the lead on five minutes when Rodriguez headed his first league goal from Austin's knockback after Junior Stanislas' crossed.[LNB]They grabbed a second on 15 minutes when Andre Amougou fed Stanislas who whipped in a delightful ball for Rodriguez to head home.[LNB]Skipper McCann made it three for Burnley on 29 minutes after Forest failed to deal with Stanislas' corner and the Irishman smashed it home.[LNB]Wallace made it four on 44 minutes when he unleashed a 20-yard effort into the bottom left-hand corner, finishing off his own run.[LNB]Miller pulled one back before the hour when the ball broke loose in Burnley's box and the former West Brom man squeezed his shot home.[LNB]Austin restored Burnley's four-goal lead on 71 minutes with a looping header over Lee Camp from Brian Easton's cross that was given by the assistant referee.
