After a day of mounting speculation regarding the position of manager Eddie Howe, Burnley have issued a statement this evening confirming that he very much remains in charge.

Howe and Jason Tindall were at Gawthorpe until the early evening but drove off without a word for the waiting media and soon after came news that a statement was to be issued by the club, this after Bournemouth manager Eddie Mitchell had confirmed an approach had been made.

Under the headline of Clarets Confirm 'Unwanted' Approach they confirmed the approach from Bournemouth.

On behalf of the club, Lee Hoos said: "Bournemouth have made an unsolicited and unwanted approach for manager Eddie Howe. Burnley Football Club would like to stress that no agreement has been reached and Eddie Howe is still Burnley manager.

"No permission has been granted for Bournemouth to speak to Eddie."
