This morning's reports suggest that Burnley have made an enquiry for Derby County's former Doncaster midfielder Paul Green although would face competition from Celtic if they pursued it. Brian Laws - enquired about Derby's Paul GreenGreen signed for Derby County in the summer of 2008, brought in by then manager Paul Jewell following their embarrassing 11 point exit from the Premier League. On Friday night the all action midfielder made his first start for the Republic of Ireland, opening the scoring in their 3-0 win over Algeria. He'd played for Doncaster in non-league football and was a member of their side who won three promotions to reach the Championship, but on getting there he opted for a move to Pride Park in a three year deal after almost 280 appearances for Doncaster. In two seasons at Pride Park he's played 77 games, scoring ten goals, and has become a very popular player with the Derby fans.It has been reported as nothing more than an enquiry although Celtic have already shown interest in him.
