Burnley defenders playing away

Two Burnley defenders lined up for other Lancashire clubs tonight with Clarke Carlisle in the Preston team at Fleetwood and Dean Overson joining two former Clarets as Accrington faced Radcliffe Borough. Dean Overson played for Accrington at Radcliffe We've all been expecting Carlisle to be a Preston player by now, on a season long loan from Burnley. As yet it hasn't happened but we believe the deal between the two clubs has been agreed and the hold up is at the Preston end as they continue to negotiate with Carlisle's representatives. However, Burnley allowed Clarke to play tonight for Preston and he started the game for North End and played the entire first half. By then they were 1-0 up with a Barry Nicholson goal two minutes before the break and North End went on to win 4-0. Over at Radcliffe Borough, Accrington had Dean Overson in their squad. Dean, along with both James and Tommy Taylor, has had his scholarship extended at Burnley because of injury but, like Carlisle, was given permission to play tonight. He sat out the first half as Nik Kudiersky, one of the development squad released at the end of last season, started the game for Stanley. Overson and Chris Lynch, another released by the Clarets, played the second half. Accrington, like Preston, won their game 4-0.
