Brassy gets Bury contract
Chris Brass has been working without a contract as assistant manager at Bury, but after their good start to the season he's joined Alan Knill in signing a deal until the end of the 2011/12 season. Brassy was watching our youth game against Bury a couple of weeks ago along with other familiar figures such as their head of youth Paul Weller who sat alongside him in the stand and centre of excellence manager Alan Moore who was in the dug out.In his second spell as assistant manager, Brass has worked without a contract, but with manager Knill having his extended they have now given Brassy one for the same length of time. Knill said: "Signing the new contract wasn't as important for me, but for Chris Brass it was because he's been working without a contract."I didn't feel that was right as his contract had actually ran out. I had a year left on mine and I felt it wasn't right. Something needed to be done, now it has been with Chris signing a two year contract and I've extended mine by another year, so we've both got deals for the same length of time."Brass left Burnley for York in March 2001 after 160 games for the club. He later managed York before going on to play for Bury. At the end of his playing career he took up a coaching role at Gigg Lane with the centre of excellence.Although playing non-league football with Hyde United, he took over as caretaker manager when Casper left and following the appointment of Alan Knill in February 2008 he worked alongside him for a couple of months before returning to his duties with the centre of excellence.He was taken on as the full time assistant manager in January 2009 and will now continue in that role until the end of next season.
