Branch may appeal

Wednesday Oct 12 2005 09:46

Burnley striker Graham Branch is deciding whether to appeal against an FA charge for allegedly gesturing towards Derby County fans in August.

The former Tranmere Rovers and Stockport County forward has been charged with using "abusive and/or indecent and/or insulting behaviour" in the Turf Moor encounter.

Branch will discuss the matter with his representatives this week before making a decision.

In an incident-packed 2-2 draw a clash between Branch and Marc Edworthy ended with the Rams player needing eight minutes of attention before being taken to hospital.

After the match Derby boss Phil Brown said: "I didn't see the whole incident but Marc's got a nasty gash on his face.

"I played against Graham Branch in my career and he's not a vindictive guy. He apologised three times after the game. However I was really concerned because Marc was concussed and he's gone to hospital."
