Boss Laws seeking derby fillip

Laws was sacked by Sheffield Wednesday last December but not before he had led the Owls to their first league double over Steel City rivals United in 96 years.[LNB]He now needs to rediscover the winning touch as time runs out for Burnley to save their Premier League status, and Sunday's visit of fierce rivals Blackburn would be the ideal starting point.[LNB]The Clarets have not beaten their East Lancashire neighbours at Turf Moor since Boxing Day 1978 and passions - and security - are high ahead of this latest much-anticipated clash.[LNB]Laws said: "I have tasted lots of derbies as a player and lots as a manager.[LNB]"Probably the biggest one I have had comparable to this is the Sheffield derby.[LNB]"Wednesday and United are two teams with great history and great rivalry.[LNB]"They are very fierce derbies and they build it up for weeks. This is no different.[LNB]"Without doubt I can use that - it was a great experience. We had a great result in breaking a 96-year duck.[LNB]"Of course this is going to be different - they are different clubs and different sets of supporters - but this is going to be one awesome game."[LNB]Laws admits the sell-out noon contest needs little extra publicity.[LNB]Its significance is also not lost on Laws, who realises the uplifting effect a victory in such a ferocious atmosphere could have on his players.[LNB]Last week's stoppage-time defeat to Wigan left Burnley in the relegation zone and with just seven games to extend their first spell in the top flight for 33 years into a second season.[LNB]Laws added: "There is so much at stake and we have got to give it our all to get a result.[LNB]"It would give us a great boost and a great chance to close the gap again.[LNB]"The game has been built up and you can't dampen it down - but I wouldn't want to. I enjoy these kind of occasions, I love them.[LNB]"This is one I have been looking forward to.[LNB]"There are not many managers who have had the opportunity to go and get the bragging rights and I want to be the first to do that in a long time.[LNB]"I did it at Sheffield Wednesday and let's hope I can use those experiences and know-how to overcome these big derbies."[LNB][LNB]
