Blake eyes derby glory
14 Oct 2009 - 09:22:58
Burnley forward Robbie Blake can't wait to play in this weekend's East Lancashire derby at Blackburn Rovers.
The Clarets have not beaten their local rivals for 30 years and Blake knows Sunday will be the perfect time for Owen Coyle's team to break their away duck in English football's top-flight this season.
Burnley have won all four of their Premier League games at Turf Moor so far this term but are without a goal or a point on their travels.
Blake admitted: "There'd be no better place than Ewood Park to get your first three points away. I'm sure the fans will banish the memories of the four games we've had so far away from home if we win that one.
"It would be better than winning the play-off final wouldn't it?
"It would be nice for the fans to have the bragging rights so hopefully we can do that for them. I don't think we'll need a team-talk for the game.
"I'm pretty sure that if you don't get up for that game, then you're never going to get up for any game.
"It's going to be a high-pressure game, but you want to be involved in them as a footballer and we can't wait to play them. The atmosphere will be great and we're really looking forward to it."
