Ternent, 64, will work under the direction of chief scout, Ricky Sbragia, on a part-time basis. Ternent, who was born in Gateshead, is one of the most experienced managers in the English game, having taken charge of six clubs during a managerial career stretching back to 1979. He started out as a coach with Sunderland before bossing Blackpool and Hull City before stepping into the hot seat at Bury in October 1995, leading the club to a double promotion. Ternent then moved on to Burnley, where he racked up a third career promotion before later assuming control at Gillingham and then Huddersfield Town.
