Bikey: Cash can't guarantee success

The Black Cats claimed a pitiful points tally of 36 last season and narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League.[LNB]The appointment of Bruce, and the huge funds he has spent on men like Darren Bent, Lee Cattermole and Michael Turner, has encouraged hopes that Sunderland can push for a top-10 finish this season.[LNB]Yet Bikey, who joined Burnley from Reading in August, is not convinced ahead of Saturday's lunchtime meeting between the clubs at Turf Moor.[LNB]The Cameroon international, 24, said: "Just because you spend a lot of money it doesn't make you the best team in the world.[LNB]"You can have money to spend on everything you want but let's see what happens on the pitch because it's about the players and the football.[LNB]"We've got a lot of quality ourselves and we will give everything to win the game against Sunderland."[LNB]The Clarets famously won their opening two matches at Turf Moor against Manchester United and Everton respectively.[LNB]However, they go into the Sunderland game on the back of successive thumpings at the hands of Chelsea and Liverpool.[LNB]Bikey added: "This club had 33 years outside of the top flight and coming into the Premier League means we are playing for everyone connected with the club.[LNB]"Right now, everything is still in our hands and we can still stay in the Premier League if we want.[LNB]"It's not going to be easy but we are lucky to be playing in this league because it is the best in the world and we will not give it up lightly.[LNB]"I will give everything I can to stay in the Premier League."[LNB]Bikey spent 18 months in the Premier League with Reading and has made an instant impression at Turf Moor.[LNB]And he is targeting a top-half finish with the Clarets this season, highlighting the energy and desire coursing through the famous old Lancashire outfit.[LNB]Bikey added: "We have a lot of quality players here so I can't understand why with players like that we can't get a good position and not secure ourselves in the Premier League.[LNB]"It's been difficult but I'm happy with the start we had because you test yourself and after playing teams like that we know what the Premier League is.[LNB]"And that's in the past and now we are going to focus on Sunderland.[LNB]"I think if we win it will be a very big result because will be in the top half of the table which will be good because if you try and get that position in the first half of the season it will be good for us in the second half.[LNB]"Sunderland are a very good team, but we have a good team too and I'm confident we can get a result.[LNB]"Our home form will be important this season to help us stay in the Premier League."[LNB][LNB]
