Bikey again takes the honours

20 September 2010 13:50
It's becoming somewhat predictable right now, but Andre Bikey was again our best player of the game in our defeat at Middlesbrough last Tuesday. Bikey has been in sensational form in defence for the Clarets and also found time to both score and hit the post with headers in the game at the Riverside. He won the man of the match vote for the fourth time this season and by winning the player ratings he completed a double for the third time.Again, as had been the case in the wins over Nottingham Forest and Leicester, he was an easy winner of the man of the match with over half the vote. This time he polled 52.7% to take first place.Chris Eagles and Jack Cork both got their first league starts of the season and they took the other two places. Eagles, who had an excellent spell during the second half, came second with 23.0% and Cork was third with 7.4% of the vote.In the player ratings, Bikey scored a rating of 7.25 out of 10. That put him clear of Brian Jensen who took second place with a rating of 7.00. A rating of 6.92 gave Eagles third place.Bikey again picks up the maximum six points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. Eagles gets three points, Jensen two points and there is one point for Cork. It's made a big difference at the top of the table with Bikey now sixteen points clear of second place Chris Iwelumo, and surely destined for more points following his performance, his best yet, at Crystal Palace on Saturday.Voting for the Palace game, down the right hand side of the front page, continues until the end of Tuesday. From Wednesday, for three days, there will be the voting for the Bolton game in the Carling Cup.The Clarets Mad Player of the Year Table28: Andre Bikey12: Chris Iwelumo9: Clarke Carlisle, Chris Eagles & Wade Elliott5: Jack Cork4: Brian Jensen2: Jay Rodriguez, Steven Thompson & Ross Wallace1: Graham Alexander, Leon Cort & Dean Marney
