Beast wants out again

For the second time, goalkeeper Brian Jensen has handed in a written transfer request at Burnley having lost his place in the first team, this time to Lee Grant who joined us from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer. Despite splashing out a reported £750,000 on Grant, who had previously spent two months at Turf Moor in the 2005/06 season on loan from Derby, it was Jensen who took his place in goal against Nottingham Forest on the opening day of the season.Grant played in the Carling Cup ties and, after an excellent performance in the undeserved defeat at Aston Villa, was retained for the league game at Queens Park Rangers and has been in the team since. That's a total of seven league games now with Jensen on the bench and today he's stunned the club by handing in a transfer request due to a lack of first team opportunities. The club are now considering his request.Jensen did similar when Steve Cotterill brought in Mike Pollitt on loan in January 2007. This followed some poor performances by Jensen, none more so than in the FA Cup defeat at Reading during that week.He won his place back for the last nine games of that season and withdrew his request.Since signing from West Brom in the summer of 2003, he's played a total of 294 games for Burnley.Should Jensen's request be accepted it will mean Burnley will have to make a move for a new goalkeeper. Grant is the only other professional goalkeeper at the club.
