Bartley gets star billing on full debut
Burnley turned in a miserable performance against Bristol City at Ashton Gate last Saturday, going down 2-0 in our first away defeat since Doncaster and our heaviest away defeat since the 3-1 reverse at Arsenal at the beginning of March last year. It was a bad day all round but one player can at least be satisfied with his performance, that being Marvin Bartley who came into the midfield for his full Burnley debut as a replacement for the injured Dean Marney.Bartley impressed the Burnley fans and his performance has won him both the man of the match and the player ratings, giving him six points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year to add to the two he got after coming on as a substitute against Coventry.He was an easy winner of the man of the match, polling 48.5% of the vote. Andre Bikey got his first start of 2011, replacing Michael Duff, and he was the only other player to reach double figures, claiming 11.0%.Jay Rodriguez and Ross Wallace might not have been at their best but both won a 6.2% share of the vote to take joint third place.Bartley was again the winner in the player ratings. HIs rating of 7.00 out of 10 was ahead of right back Tyrone Mears who came second with a rating of 6.50 and Wade Elliott, another returning to the side, who had a rating of 6.00 out of 10 and came third.Besides Bartley getting six points, there are two each for Bikey and Mears whilst all of Elliott, Rodriguez and Wallace get one point.
