Austin faces fitness test for Burnley

Burnley boss Eddie Howe will check on the fitness of striker Charlie Austin ahead of the trip to Cardiff.

The recent signing from Swindon missed Saturday's 3-1 victory at Watford because he was feeling unwell and was replaced in the starting line-up by Chris Iwelumo. Iwelumo was on the scoresheet at Vicarage Road and Howe will be reluctant to make any changes for the clash with Dave Jones' side.

Clarets striker Martin Paterson could be out for the rest of the season following the recurrence of a thigh injury in the recent defeat at Doncaster.

Midfielder Chris McCann also remains sidelined for another fortnight after undergoing minor head surgery. The 23-year-old Dubliner, who had been complaining of repeated migraines, has been released from hospital following the procedure.
