All change for Burnley tomorrow

06 May 2011 10:58
Burnley play their last game of the season tomorrow when Cardiff are the visitors and we are already moving towards next season with the team set to play in their brand new kit. The 2011/12 home kit goes on sale in the club shop from tomorrow and to give the supporters a further chance to see it the club asked the Football League for permission to play in it.The new Puma strip is a fairly traditional looking claret shirt with blue sleeves and incorporates the new club badge which was introduced ahead of this current season. There are two white stripes either side of the collared shirt which is due to Johan Cruyff's actions in the 1974 World Cup when he removed one of the three Adidas stripes from his shirt in respect to Puma who were his boot sponsors.Burnley's new kit includes white shorts with claret stripes and we've returned, after two seasons, to white socks rather than the claret and blue hooped socks.I can't recall Burnley having done this before, wear the following season's kit at the end of a season, but we have changed kit at home twice in recent seasons. In 2004/05 we played in a special '500 Mile' shirt in the game against Brighton and three seasons later wore a blue and white striped shirt for our home game against Stoke.Hopefully we'll get the new kit off to a winning start.
