All change at the top again

Queens Park Rangers beat bottom club Preston North End yesterday and that was enough to see them go back to the top of the Championship with Cardiff losing at home to Nottingham Forest. It was an easy win for QPR once North End goalkeeper Andy Lonergan had gifted them an opening goal which were added to by two excellent strikes from Adel Taarabt.Whilst on the subject of top strikes, the usual two were at it again. Lewis McGugan added to his collection with Forest's second at Cardiff who have now lost their last two home games, and Barnsley's Adam Hammill seems to do it every week and this time scored the only goal in the win against Portsmouth with a volley from the edge of the box.Pride of place has to go to Bristol City's David Clarkson though this week. He latched onto a quick throw out from the goalkeeper and hit as sensational shot from distance. It's unsure whether the goalkeeper was confused. Chris Weale used to play for Bristol City but was actually playing AGAINST them yesterday. One thing that always brightens my weekend is seeing a referee completely ruin a game somewhere else. Somehow, I always seem to think it is Burnley who are on the wrong end of poor officials. Last week it was Michael Oliver causing untold damage at Reading and yesterday it was his fellow Premier League referee Anthony Taylor who was conjuring up penalties from nothing at Bramall Lane.Sheffield United beat Crystal Palace 3-2 in a game that saw three penalties, two of which were a joke, two red cards, one harsh and one as a direct result of one of the poor penalty decisions, and a goal that was so far offside that it looked impossible to allow it.The two managers were upset, but didn't say too much to avoid coming under an FA charge for speaking the truth. The result of the games, apart from the top two switching, was Nottingham Forest replacing us in the top six. Like us they have drawn too many games and won just six. They sit one point above us from one more draw. Swansea, Derby and Leeds remain in the play off positions.Down at the bottom, Preston are still three points adrift of both Middlesbrough, who are back in the bottom three, and Crystal Palace. Bristol City's climbed out with their win and Preston are now six points from safety. The results and stats from the weekend are below along with the league's leading goalscorers, each club's disciplinary record and the next fixtures.
