Alexander is new captain

Graham Alexander has been confirmed as the new captain of Burnley Football Club, replacing Steven Caldwell who left the club at the end of last season. The news comes as no surprise. Grezza stood in as captain last season during Caldwell's absences due to injury and in he's worn the captain's arm band throughout the pre-season.Now, on Saturday, when the Clarets take to the field against Nottingham Forest, he'll lead the side out for the first time as the official club captain.Manager Brian Laws said, after confirming the news this morning: "Graham is the consummate professional who has been instrumental in the success that this club has seen in the past few seasons, so it was an easy choice."He is a leader on the park as much as he is off it. He does everything right on the training ground and away from the ground and that's something you want every player to look upon. When you look at how old he is and see him still playing now, at a really good level, you know he's done all the right things. You couldn't ask for a better leader and hopefully he'll lead us on to better things this year."Grezza was previously captain of Preston as well as standing in at Burnley and Laws added: "Graham is no stranger to it either and it's important that you get that figurehead right. We're delighted to give him the captaincy and he's very proud of that."
