Alexander in confident mood

Burnley midfielder Graham Alexander is determined to make up for last season's relegation by guiding his side back into the Premier League at the first attempt. Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws replaced Owen Coyle, who left to join Bolton, back in January but was unable to prevent the Clarets from dropping out of England's top-flight. But Alexander, who helped the Clarets to lift the FIS Asian Challenge Cup over the weekend, is optimistic about the forthcoming npower Championship campaign and believes his side have enough quality players to put them in the mix for promotion. Burnley will welcome Nottingham Forest to Turf Moor on the opening day of the season and Alexander told the club's official website: "The disappointment has gone now and we're confident and positive of the season ahead. "We are back in the Championship now which is a great league to play in but also a tough league. There are enough players in the squad who want to win and want to get promoted again. "We're confident in ourselves, we've got a strong squad, a really competitive squad and there are a lot of players who can come into the first team which will be vital if we want to go back up."
