Akinbiyi passes MLS medical

Striker Ade Akinbiyi's move from Burnley to Houston Dynamo has moved a step closer after the 34-year-old passed a medical with the MLS side.

The former Leicester City star could even make his debut for Houston this weekend against DC United if the relevant paperwork is secured in time.

"Our search for a forward has been very public since the off-season," said Dynamo's chief operating officer Chris Canetti.

"Finally we've settled on a player who we think will come here and bring great results. We're very happy to have him join us.

"He's signed an MLS contract to play with the Dynamo. Once he finalises his buyout with Burnley we'll be able to file officially for the international transfer paperwork."
