Accrington game off

Next Tuesday's game against Accrington has been postponed and the Clarets will now look to fix up another game ahead of the new season. Accrington's pitch has undergone some major surgery over the summer and they've decided not to risk it next Tuesday.Chief exec Rob Heys said: "Over £70,000 has been spent on improving the pitch this season with the levelling of the surface and the installation of a new drainage and sprinkler system."While we were very keen to get the game on in terms of bringing some money into the club, we have taken a longer term view and after discussions with the pitch contractors have decided the sensible way forward is to allow a further ten days or so before it is played on."This is to ensure that we do not do anything to jeaopardise the work that has gone into making what will be the best playing surface ever at the Crown Ground."That currently leaves Burnley with just one pre-season game remaining, against Stoke at Huddersfield, once the team return from Singapore, but manager Brian Laws is hoping to add another game to the schedule.
