A good night for the bottom three
Last night proved to be a good night for the three clubs in the relegation places ahead of kick off with Crystal Palace, Bristol City and Sven Goran Eriksson's Leicester all winning against teams who started the day in the top ten. Pride of place should surely go to Palace who had travelled to third place Norwich and had to come from behind to win. It was their first away win of the season and the same could be said for Sven's Leicester who won by the same 2-1 scoreline at Leeds.Bristol City were also winners, beating Reading at home and thus became the last Championship club to win a home game this season.Bristol City are still bottom and Palace remain between them, but Preston are back down there after losing 3-2 at home to Scunthorpe. It was their fourth home defeat of the season and their eighth league defeat in total.The day started with six clubs not having won an away game but Portsmouth joined Palace and Leicester in getting their first three points on the road. That leaves just Barnsley and Middlesbrough as well as the Clarets looking for that first away victory.Portsmouth, along with Derby, are the form teams right now. While Portsmouth were winning at Millwall last night, Derby took all three points at Doncaster. Derby are up to 7th and Portsmouth are 15th and both are teams to keep an eye on.Over the weekend we reported the good fortune of the top two clubs, and nothing changed in midweek. QPR benefited from Wes Hoolahan missing a penalty against them on Saturday, last night it was the turn of Swansea's David Cotterill in yet another 0-0 draw although Cotterill did get his on target only for it to be saved by Paddy Kenny. Cardiff, meanwhile, scored a late winner against Coventry.Our win has taken us back up to fourth in the table.
