Bulgarian League postponed over cold snap

Bulgaria's football union announced Tuesday it was postponing the re-start of its football league season after the winter break due to bad weather.

"The 16th round of the spring half-season due to be played on February 24-27 has been postponed over extreme weather conditions -- heavy snowfall and low temperatures," the union's sporting and technical committee said in a statement.

The eight games will be squeezed in between the 19th and 20th round in March, it added.

Like much of Europe, Bulgaria has been gripped by severe winter cold with heavy snowfall and temperatures over the past few weeks hardly exceeding zero.
