Williams worried about Rovers deal

Bristol Rovers winger Ryan Williams fears a knee injury could scupper his chances of being handed another contract at the Memorial Stadium.

The 27-year-old's current deal expires in December, but the injury he picked up recently is set to keep him out for around a month, which will leave him very little time to prove he is worthy of an extension.

More worryingly for the player, who was out of favour under former boss Ian Atkins, is that caretaker boss Paul Trollope may not get the manager's job on a permanent basis which means he will need to impress any new manager in a short space of time.

Williams told the club's official website: "It's not been easy for me. I'd like to get the contract sorted out, as nobody likes leaving this until the last minute.

"All I want to do is play football for Bristol Rovers. Hopefully I'll be able to do that beyond the end of the year."
