Trollope keen to keep Walker
09 Oct 2006 - 11:27:21
Bristol Rovers' first-team coach Paul Trollope has been delighted with striker James Walker and has hinted that he could bid to extend his loan spell from Charlton Athletic.
The highly-rated 18-year-old was allowed to join the Pirates by Addicks boss Iain Dowie to let him gain some valuable first-team experience and he has impressed greatly at the Memorial Stadium.
And, following Walker's winning strike in Saturday's 1-0 win against Boston United, Trollope confirmed he would like the player to stay on for a longer loan spell.
He told BBC Radio Bristol: "That would be great. He's hungry and he wants to show what he can do because this is good for his experience.
"It's a difficult time for him to come into the club as this is a tough period for us but he's taken to it very well."
