Pirates snap up Heffernan
09 Feb 2010 - 06:59:12
Bristol Rovers have completed the loan signing of Doncaster Rovers frontman Paul Heffernan.
The Pirates confirmed the deal after seeing Chris Lines ruled out through injury.
Heffernan joined Doncaster in 2005 and he scored in the win against Rovers in the 2007 Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final.
The 28-year-old Dubliner began his career with Notts County in 1999 then made a move to Bristol City in 2004 where he spent just one unsuccessful season with the Ashton Gate outfit.
Speaking to BBC Radio Bristol, director of football Lennie Lawrence said: "With Chris Lines injured we need another goal threat and I think Paul can add to it.
"We've got to bring people in that are either different or on a par with what we've got already, if not better."
