Pirates pounce for Lambert

Bristol Rovers have snapped up Rochdale forward Rickie Lambert in a £200,000 deal.

The Pirates moved for Lambert after being rebuffed in their efforts to tempt Hereford United to sell Andy Williams to them.

Lambert, 24, has signed a three-year contract with Rovers to end an 18-month stint with Dale.

He scored 28 goals in 68 appearances for the Spotland club, having previously played for Stockport County, Macclesfield Town and Blackpool.
