Pirates open Pipe talks

Bristol Rovers have opened talks with Notts County midfielder David Pipe over a switch to the Memorial Stadium. The 23-year-old Wales international, who can also play at right-back, has been with County since January 2004, making more than 150 appearances for the Meadow Lane club. However, a Magpies spokesperson confirmed: "David has been given permission to speak to Bristol Rovers and he is due to hold talks with them later this week. "It was David's wish for us to allow him to talk to Bristol Rovers, given that he has strong roots towards Bristol and an opportunity to return to the Welsh squad by playing in a higher division." Pipe's one and only outing for his country came in May 2003, as a substitute against the USA.
