Pirates given shining light
05 Feb 2009 - 12:12:10
Bristol Rovers have announced that they are to replace the bulbs in the floodlights at the Memorial Stadium in order to meet Football League regulations.
Director of administration Rod Wesson explained the decision to spend 'several thousand pounds' on new floodlights, rather than players.
"All clubs have to ensure their lights meet a minimum lux rating and each year the bulbs lose about ten per cent of their lux value because they deteriorate over time," he told the Evening Post.
"Another factor to consider is the demands of TV companies who need a decent light level if they are to broadcast games."
The 80 new lamps that are to be installed should be ready for Rovers' game with Yeovil Town on February 17th.
