Patterson handed new Rovers role

Bristol Rovers have appointed Darren Patterson as the new assistant to manager Paul Trollope.The 40-year-old former Northern Ireland international, who was a player with Crystal Palace and Luton Town, has been handed the newly created role. Patterson joined Rovers as head of youth in June 2009 after a spell as Oxford United manager. Rovers are restructuring after terminating the contract of director of football Lennie Lawrence.
