New deals for Pirates trio

Bristol Rovers first-team coach Paul Trollope is happy with his squad after confirming that Chris Carruthers, Lewis Haldane and Richard Walker had all penned new deals with the club.

Trollope has signed David Pipe, Andy Williams and Joe Jacobson this summer and persuaded many of the squad that clinched promotion to League One via the play-offs to commit their futures to the club.

"They're three players who played big parts in last season's success," Trollope told the Pirates' official website.

"They're the final pieces of the jigsaw for me, we've wanted to keep the group together and we're pleased to have done that.

"When so many players are out of contract, especially when you've had a bit of success, you do sometimes get people moving on.

"We've had to react to that and fight off interest from elsewhere, and we're pleased that we've managed to keep them all with us."
