Jacobson eyes Pirates return
03 Oct 2008 - 07:40:50
Bristol Rovers defender Joe Jacobson is delighted to have finally overcome a serious knee injury to be back in contention for the Pirates first team.
The 21-year-old has yet to feature for Rovers this term, having suffered knee ligament damage during pre-season training, but Jacobson lasted almost all of a reserve team clash with Cardiff City this week.
He later told the Evening Post: "I was pleased with the time that I played because I was expecting to do about an hour, but managed a bit longer.
"I felt good in the first half and for most of the second, although my lungs caught up with me towards the end.
"It was just good to be back playing again in a game where there was some competition.
"I've only been back in full training for three or four days, so I still have things to catch up on.
"My plan was to get a reserve team game in this week and then hopefully be available for Saturday. It's up to the manager to decide whether he thinks I'm ready or not."
