    Injury setback for Green

    24 Feb 2007 - 11:40:29

Bristol Rovers right-back Ryan Green faces an extended spell on the sidelines as his struggles to overcome a nasty foot injury.

The 26-year-old Wales international was stretchered off during the 4-3 defeat at Grimsby Town two weeks ago and now faces more than two months out of action as he may require a skin graft to help heal a deep gash.

Green told the Western Daily Press: "I went to clear the ball, kicked the bottom of Danny North's boot and his studs went straight through my boot and right through to the bone.

"At first I didn't even realise what had happened and carried on playing for a couple of minutes, but then I looked down and saw my boot ripped open and bits of flesh hanging out.

"The doctor said to me the gash was only a fraction away from the nerves, so I'm lucky in a way, but it is not healing properly and there's a possibility I may need a skin graft."
