Hughes sidelined after slip
09 Feb 2009 - 15:12:51
Bristol Rovers midfielder Jeff Hughes faces a spell out of action after it was confirmed that he had broken his hand.
Meanwhile, reserve team goalkeeper Mike Green has sustained a similar injury and could be sidelined until late March.
First-team coach Paul Trollope told Rovers' official website: "Jeff came into training on Saturday and slipped on the ice, breaking his hand in a couple of places, which was unfortunate.
"He's likely to be missing for a couple of weeks and has a hard cast on his hand at the moment.
"Mike Green has broken the fourth metacarpal on his left hand, an injury that could keep him out for up to six weeks.
"We'll have to look at the goalkeeping situation, because it leaves Steve Phillips as our only recognised goalkeeper."
