Final blow for Rovers loanee
23 May 2007 - 10:48:01
Bristol Rovers coach Paul Trollope has revealed his disappointment that on-loan defender Joe Jacobson will miss Saturday's League Two play-off final meeting with Shrewsbury Town.
Jacobson joined the Pirates on loan from Cardiff City in February, but his maximum 93-day stay at the Memorial Stadium ended after the semi-final victory over Lincoln City.
The news is a further blow to the 20-year-old, who also sat out the League Trophy final last month at the Millennium Stadium when he was cup-tied.
"We tried, but rules are rules and I don't think there's much sentiment when it comes to Football League rules," said Trollope.
"We're disappointed because Joe has made a big contribution to us.
"He's a young lad and I think that's sometimes forgotten by some people, but he's done well and has given us a natural balance and produced good performances.
"It is disappointing for Joe and the club, but he'll just have to sit and watch like he did at the Millennium Stadium."
