Crime rate judged unsatisfactory

A report has criticised crime and detection rates in Avon and Somerset as "unsatisfactory when compared to other forces".The report by the Audit Commission and Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary put the authority's overall performance as "adequate".
