Cotterill ban for Rovers clash

The FA have confirmed that Barrow defender James Cotterill who allegedly struck Bristol Rovers forward Sean Rigg during last week's FA Cup first round tie has been "suspended from all football activity".

Cotterill appeared to punch Rigg in the face as the Conference North side lost 3-2 to Rovers at Holker Street

Referee Eddie Ilderton missed the incident but it was later picked up by television replays.

An FA statement said: "James Cotterill has been suspended from all football and football activity with immediate effect, pending the outcome of disciplinary proceedings.

"The Interim Suspension Order has been ordered due to the serious nature of the alleged misconduct."
