Coles tipped for Rovers stay
05 Aug 2008 - 12:33:48
Bristol Rovers head coach Paul Trollope is set to open contract talks with Danny Coles, who has been the subject of three offers from Plymouth Argyle.
The Pirates have rejected all three bids for the 26-year-old and Trollope is confident he will be able to keep the talented defender at the Memorial Stadium.
Coles is currently contracted to the club for another two seasons, but Trollope confirmed: "We've knocked back three bids from Plymouth and are now in discussions with Danny over a new contract.
"He's indicated he's willing to sign and hopefully we can conclude that before the end of the week and have Danny tied up on a longer-term deal.
"Plymouth identified him as someone who can play in the Championship, which is exactly what we did when we took him from Hull.
"The Plymouth interest proves he was a good signing for us and he became a key performer for us after making a bit of a shaky start."
