A stalemate at the Memorial Stadium was marred by a serious-looking injury to Bristol Rovers defender Byron Anthony.Anthony was stretchered off just before half-time with a leg problem after a last-ditch challenge on Tranmere striker Bas Savage. Paul McLaren and Ian Thomas-Moore missed early chances for the visitors, while Jeff Hughes and Paul Heffernan went close for Rovers at the death.
