Barrow defender James Cotterill has pleaded guilty to punching Bristol Rovers striker Sean Rigg and causing grievous bodily harm.
The incident happened when the two sides met in a televised FA Cup clash at Barrow's Holker Street ground on November 11.
Rigg was left with a badly broken jaw after the off-the-ball incident which was caught by television cameras.
Cotterill, 24, was immediately suspended from all football activities by the FA and will now be sentenced at Lancaster Crown Court on January 5.
