Tinnion eyes loan star

Bristol City player-manager Brian Tinnion has revealed that he will step up his attempts to sign a new central defender on loan after Craig Ireland returned to Peterborough United.

Ireland has gone back to London Road after Posh revealed they wanted a big transfer fee for him, and Tinnion now says he will look elsewhere to strengthen his backline.

Tinnion will once again use the loan market and is hoping to make a breakthrough before the weekend.

"What happened with Craig was unfortunate," Tinnion revealed. "Peterborough suddenly made it clear they wanted a sizeable fee for him and that was out of the question.

"His wife has just had a baby and he was doing a lot of travelling so, as there was no chance of a permanent deal at the moment, we decided to let him go back.

"That means there is still a need to strengthen numbers at the back. We will be looking around with that in mind and I'd like to bring in another new face in if possible."
