Striker injury relief for Robins
25 Sep 2006 - 13:15:37
Bristol City boss Gary Johnson is relieved Steve Brooker is only facing a two-week lay-off with a knee injury, while Enoch Showunmi is close to a return.
Brooker was forced out of Saturday's win at Port Vale with the problem, while a virus has kept Showunmi on the sidelines of late.
Neither striker will feature in Tuesday's trip to Bournemouth, so Phil Jevons and Jennison Myrie-Williams will continue.
Johnson told the club's official website: "The news on Brooks could have been worse because it looked a nasty injury at the time.
"The lower end of one of his hamstrings took a bit of a pounding, but a scan has shown no cartilage or cruciate ligament damage.
"Enoch's temperature is down and it looks as though the virus is out of his system. He will need a few days to build himself up, but we are hopeful he will be in contention for Saturday."
