Bristol City have terminated the contract of Marcus Stewart leaving the veteran striker free to sign for Yeovil Town in the New Year.
Stewart, 34, signed for the Robins in 2005 but fell down the pecking order when Gary Johnson replaced Brian Tinnion in the Ashton Gate hot-seat.
The former Ipswich Town and Sunderland striker was allowed to sign for Yeovil on loan at the beginning of the current campaign and the Glovers have been keen to make the move into a permanent transfer.
Stewart has netted five times in 13 appearances for the Huish Park outfit this season.
"We are disappointed that Marcus' stay with us did not work out, but we would like to wish him well in his future career," Robins chairman Steve Lansdown told the club's official website.
