Bristol City have completed the signing of Cheltenham Town midfielder Brian Wilson for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old has joined City on a contract running until the summer of 2009, after rejecting the offer of a new deal to extend his stay at Whaddon Road.

City boss Gary Johnson told the clubs official website: "We have watched him on a number of occasions and believe he will add quality to our squad.

"It's great that he is only 23 and has the best days of his career in front of him. We hope to improve him further as a player, while he helps us progress as a club."

Wilson joined Cheltenham for £50,000 from Stoke City in March 2004, following a successful loan spell.

As part of the deal to bring Wilson to Ashton Gate, Scott Brown has moved to Cheltenham on a month's loan.
