Strikers Jon Stead and Brett Pitman have joined Bristol City in a double deal.

Stead has signed for the Robins on a three-year contract from Ipswich Town.

The well-travelled frontman has made the move to Ashton Gate for an undisclosed fee following two years with the Tractor Boys.

The former England Under-21 international spent time out on loan at Coventry City last season and was expected to leave Ipswich during the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, fellow frontman Pitman has joined for an undisclosed fee from League One side Bournemouth.

The 22-year-old scored 62 goals in 197 appearances for the Cherries and opted to sign for City ahead of the Premier League outfit Blackpool.
